Vladimir Putin Visit India 2018- Deal on S-400 missile Signed
Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin arrives India a two-day visit on September 4th for the 19th India-Russia Bilateral Summit. He received by External Affairs Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj in the national capital on Thursday. The Russian president is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Trade and Industry Minister Denis Manturov. After that, held a private meeting with PM Modi at the latter’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.
Next day on September 5, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted saying that Indian PM Narinder Modi welcomes Russian President with warmly shook hands and hugged each other at Delhi’s Hyderabad House for bilateral talks on some critical deals between the two Nations.
These the third meeting between PM Modi and Mr. Putin this year after the informal meeting in the Russian resort city of Sochi in May and a bilateral on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in South Africa.
S-400 Triumph Long Range Surface to Air Missile System
Finally, at afternoon, Pm Narinder Modi signed a worth $5 billion deal of surface-to-air missile S-400 Triumph with Russia amid a warning of US sanctions. The US could impose sanctions using the Countering America’s Adversaries through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) legislation, which deals primarily with countries having “significant transactions” with Russia, North Korea or Iran. S-400 long-range missile system will boost India’s air-defense capabilities along 4000km India-china border as well maintain strategic balance in the subcontinent.
India is also thinking on a $2.5 billion deal to buying 4 Krivak-class frigates from Russia, two of which will be built in India at Goa shipyard.
Two nation signed a deal for space cooperation to built An Indian monitoring station near the Russian city of Novosibirsk in Siberia, say sources according to news agency ANI.
Mr. Putin and PM Modi leaders sign around 20 agreements.Along with the S-400 Triumf and Krivak deals, space mission, nuclear project, etc.
Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are also discussing key regional and global issues, including US sanctions on the import of Iranian crude oil. Before returning today, Mr. Putin will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind.
