It’s that time of the year to gear up yourself and go out enjoying the most awaited time of the year, The Outside Lands Festival. Like every year, Golden Gate Park of San Francisco once again will light itself up with mirth. There will be excitement, craziness, mirth, foods, music and so much more.

What is Outside Lands?

Outside Lands is like a big festival of music and art in San Francisco. It began in 2008 and since then has been happening every year. Outside Lands brings together artists and musicians from all over the world. In Outside Lands, not only music is performed but also, several other art forms.

The History of Outside Lands

As mentioned above, Outside Lands was started in 2008 in the month of August. In the first installment, about 60 musical acts were performed. Thousands of people had gathered around in the park to witness the grand event. Moreover, no doubt, the show proved to be a massive hit. Since it was such a hit, the founders decided to carry on the musical festival every year. If something gets appreciated, undoubtedly criticisms will follow and so happened with Outside Lands. People had strongly criticized the first installment of Outside Lands for failing to have proper control over the crowd.

The event soon took the phase of a “green movement”. Every attempt has been taken to ensure that the festival is eco-friendly. The crowd or the attendees are requested to use a public transport through Muni to get to the main event. It is usually a three-day event, happening around August. The second event had taken place from 28 to 30 August, 2009. The live streaming of the event was also done in the YouTube account of the channel.

The event has been founded by Starr Hill Presents, Another Planet Entertainment and Superfly Presents. The genre of musically usually extends from Indie Rock, Alternative Rock, Electronica to Hip Hop.

What is exciting about this year?

What is the most exciting about Outside Lands is the music line-up every year. Every year the festivals has a line up of great festivals who perform in the festival and take the crowd by awe. This year, it would be the 11^th installment of the Outside Lands. The festival this year is to begin from 10^th and continue till 12^th August. The line-up of music artists this year will definitely take you by surprise and make you want to rush to the event.

What is the line-up of artists this year?

The music lineup this year is very exciting with The Weeknd, Florence and the Machine and Janet Jackson being the major attractions. Artists from all over the world will come together and perform. Apart from the major artist attractions, some of the other notable acts include Beck, James Blake, Bon Iver, Future, CHVRCHES, N.E.R.D, Huey Lewis and The News, Carly Rae Jepsen and so on. Portugal, the Man, Chromeo, Father John Misty, Broken Social Scene, Mac DeMarco and Jamie xx will also make an appearance and rock the stage.

Other artists that are to be performing include Tycho, Margo Price, Odesza, The Internet, Kelela, GoldLink, Daniel Caesar, Lizzo, The Mountain Goats and Tash Sultana. Big Gigantic, Lucy Dacus, SOB X RBE, Knox Fortune, Nick Mulvey, Amen Dunes, Mikky Ekko, LAUV and more other artists would be performing.

What will be the other major attractions?

Of course, music isn’t the only thing that you will be enjoying in Outside Lands 2018. The organizers have got more for you to enjoy. There will be bright lights, foods, wine and other forms of art for the attendees. The wine section would allow people to taste the various kind of wines from across the world.

Since every attempt is taken to make the event an eco-friendly one, solar power stages are set up. There would be other programs such as water diversion programs and bike valet parking programs.

The event usually takes place during the 2^nd week of August. This year the festival will begin on 8^th and continue till 10^th of August. So, grab your passes and go enjoy.
